Introducing Konductor

Konductor was designed from the ground up to control the complete range of Linn Digital Streamer Players (DSs) running the new 'Cara' software.

Brought to you by the same team which produced Linn's Pronto DS Control Point, Konductor has been built from scratch to provide a cutting edge, yet intuitive interface to your Linn DS using Apple technology.

Getting Started

Unlike traditional UPnP Control Points, Konductor does not rely on the seemingly arbitary discovery protocol of UPnP, instead, the IP addresses of both the DS & Media Server are specified in Konductor's settings page. If the DS is controlling a pre-amp, then that too can be specified here. Normally, as show in the screen shots, the pre-amp's IP address is the same as that of the DS, however, for future compatability is has been kept as a separate item.

The settings for Konductor are accessed from the Settings application on the home page of your iPhone / iPod Touch. Simply select Settings then flick to the bottom where you will find Konductor listed along with your other installed applications.

Don't worry - you've not been forgotten. We have a special web page, here, which allows you to specify upto 5 DSs for Konductor to control.

How do I find my DS's IP address?

We have written some free software which you can download here, that can be used to discover the IP address of you DS(s) and your Media Server.

Which Media Servers are supported?

Currently only Twonky, however we are more that happy to work with you to get get Konductor to work with your specific server. Please contact us with your requirements. The engine behind Konductor has been designed to be flexible so adding support for other media servers should be a simple task.

Now Playing

The Now Playing page allows you to take control of your DS and an optional attached Pre-Amp. If a Pre-Amp is attached then a volume slider, mute and source selection controls will also be displayed. The source selector can also used to power on and off the DS and any attached Pre-Amp.

Library

The Library page displays the contents of your Media Server (Twonky) and allows you to search your library to add individual tracks or whole albums to the DSs playlist. In the screen shots above, the Portishead album 'Third' can be appended to your DSs playlist by selecting the album art (or the string 'Third'). Individual track can be added by selecting their title from the list below.

A special feature has been added to Konductor to allow branches of your Media Server's library to be hidden. For example, Twonky always adds a '-All Tracks-' entry. If you don't want to see this branch then simply prefix the name with the string '--ignore--' (Without the quotation marks).
